Jonathan Chan, Esq.
Mr. Chan attended UC Irvine and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in political science. He continued to pursue his lifelong goal of becoming an attorney, moving across the country to obtain his Juris Doctor degree from Boston University School of Law. During law school, he gained experience in the non-profit sectors, including environmental law and dispute resolution.
Prior to joining CTK Law Group, Mr. Chan worked at a law firm in downtown Los Angeles, assisting in contract negotiation and civil litigation matters, including trial and law and motion. He takes pride in not only offering cost-effective litigation solutions to clients, but also aggressively arguing on behalf of his clients and finding arguments for clients when it appears none exist.
In addition to civil litigation, Mr. Chan has also assisted local business owners in day to day operations, including but not limited to drafting contracts for local tech companies and working with out-of-state attorneys to resolve legal issues for his California clients. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf.

Representative Matters
Business Litigation: Obtained six-figure judgment for client in breach of contract case. Continued to represent client regarding subsequent fraudulent transfer case.
Business Litigation: Advised local business in trade secret case involving former employee. Secured all of client’s goals shortly after filing of lawsuit. Drafted customized employment agreements for client’s business to prevent similar future instances.
Intellectual Property Litigation: Represented client in allegations by former website designer of copyright infringement against client. Advised client of best course of action, resulting in no payment made by client.
Intellectual Property Litigation: Represented client in allegations by an artist of copyright infringement by third party merchandise creator and distributor. Directed settlement efforts amongst all parties, allowing client to settle the matter quickly and efficiently. Resulted in no payment to artist by client, an innocent bystander as to the copyright infringement.
Employment: Negotiated favorable terms for client’s employment contract for client’s new employment opportunity in Hong Kong. Assisted client, a California resident, in obtaining employment terms comparable to those of similar employment opportunities in California while preserving the employee’s benefits granted to employee in consideration for employee’s relocation to Hong Kong.
Employment: Advised client regarding employment separation agreement. Obtained favorable terms for client.
Employment: Advised former employer regarding PAGA claims by a former employee alleging six-figure damages. Advised client to obtain favorable results in resolving the matter efficiently, significantly reducing the client’s costs incurred in the matter. Drafted employee handbook and employment agreements for client, including non-disclosure agreements.
Business Transaction: Advised client regarding startup of media business. Drafted various contracts including artist 360 agreements, publisher and composer agreements, master use agreements, composition assignment agreements, merchandising agreements, public relations agreements, and content production agreements to obtain favorable terms for client.
Business Transaction: Drafted necessary contracts for client, a modeling agency, including but not limited to modeling agreements, waivers, non-solicitation clauses, and client agreements. Advised client, a new business, on various talent agency issues.
Business Transaction: Assisted client in drafting employment agreements and customer agreements to prevent last-minute customer cancellations. Reduced last-minute employee resignations.
Business Transaction: Assisted client, a robotics company, in drafting technical and software services agreement with customers. Obtained favorable terms for company, including advanced payment for costs incurred and a clear agreement between client and client’s customers as to what services are included and excluded under client’s scope of services to client’s customers.
Estate Planning: Assisted client, who had a AB trust over three decades old, in amending such trust for client’s current needs and explained all terms to client. Guided client in specific amendments and determined the appropriate course of action to amend outdated AB trust.
